Introducing TOM DAY, Veteran and
Patriot.
Born March 7th, 1940 Chicago Illinois.
Tom went to TAFT high school when the musical
"Grease", was being conceived by two classmates from the
school. Tom had his own T.V. show on WGN and a Sunday dance
party every Sunday afternoon at the old Chez-Pane night club.
The show was called "Time for Teens" and lasted seven months
until graduation in June of 1958. Tom was then on his way to
Parris Island for Marine boot camp. During this time our
country was preparing to invade Lebanon. After Tom's active
duty he finished his tour of duty as an instructor of Atomic,
Bio, and Chemical Warfare. Tom was also the photographer and
ran the dark room for the Second Marine Air Wing at Glenview
Naval Air Station.
Tom also was the Public Information
Officer for the Navy .Seabees at Glenview from 1978 to 1982.
Tom's Dad, Col Joe Day was one of the founders of the USAF
Civil Air Patrol on Dec. 1st, 1941. Tom was a cadet and senior
Squadron Commander for more than fifteen years. Tom started
marching on March 7th, 1947 when he joined the Norwood Park
Drum and Bugle Corps. Seven years later he was the Drum Major
and drill instructor. Tom then spent three active years with
the Chicago Cavaliers until they won the Junior National
Championship. All this gave Tom the knowledge and ability to
teach drill at the Army JROTC at Taft high school and Tom
taught the only City Championship team Taft ever had. Tom was
also the Chicago area Coast Guard Bugler for a three year
period. Tom was a volunteer Army JROTC instructor at Stienmetz
high school for more than eight years and started a drum and
bugle corps for them that within 120 days, took third place in
the city championships. The corps was also featured in a
French film about "D" Day. Tom was also the last Drum Major
for the world champion Skokie Indians Sr. Drum and Bugle
Corps.
When Tom moved to California he took a group of
25 Boy Scouts and built them into the California State Champs
in 18 months. The Corps went on to win the first Drum Corps
International World Championship in 1972. The name of Tom's
corps was "The Anaheim Kingsmen". Tom started the first tours
of Warner Brothers in Hollywood as he worked on the movie "The
Great Race". Tom also organized the state campaign for Ronald
Reagan and put together the city welcoming committee for Mayor
Sam Yorty. While in California Tom worked in the financial
industry and during the tough times of the mid sixties Tom was
asked by Gov. Reagan to help save the states biggest Saving
and Loan known as Lytton Savings. Their delinquency rate had
gone way over the federal limit and they were about to be
closed. Tom reduced delinquency from 7 ½ percent to below one
percent in 18 months. This saved the institution which then
became Great Western Savings. In California Tom was asked by
Stanford University to lecture the ecology department on how
best to develop ways to get the message of birth control to
poor third world countries. Tom graduated from and lectured at
the American Banking Institute in California. Tom's major was
how best to administer the Real Estate Tax department. Tom
wrote his own manual on Loan Servicing.
Tom has also
lectured at the College of DuPage and worked on Music projects
for Morton College in Cicero, Illinois. Tom is a registered
speaker with the State of Illinois. Tom has spoken before
audiences up to 65,000 and as few as 10. Tom has run for
office three times and worked on many other worthwhile
campaigns Tom was featured in Time Magazine when Bob Dole was
running for President.
Tom developed the Real Estate
Tax program in Cook County, Illinois and many other states,
saving taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in Tax
Anticipated Warrants. Tom has also worked for the Illinois
Lottery for over 18 years raising even more money for
education in Illinois.
Tom has his own Color Guard and
has lead the World Cup Parade in Chicago 1994 and lead the
Desert Storm Parade with Gen. Colin Powell in 1991. Tom was
one of the original organizers of the Vietnam Welcome Home
Parade in 1986. The color guard is known as "The Black Sheep
Squadron/Bugles Across America, and they have won every major
title a Veteran/Patriot guard can win.
When the
government asked for volunteers to help with Military Funeral
Honors in 2000, Tom started "Bugles Across America (nfp)". In
five years Tom has recruited over five thousand horn players
in America and abroad. BAA has done more than sixty thousand
funerals.
Tom has been featured on the front page of
the Wall Street Journal, People Magazine, Guidepost magazine,
The VFW, American Legion, Amvets, Marine Corps League, The
Instrumentalist, American Profile, Scouting, and The Elks
magazine. Tom has appeared on Tom Brokaw's NBC show, CNN,
CLTV, ABC, FOX, and The Me Laughlin group on PBS, and many
times on Public Radio. Stories have also been covered in over
three hundred news papers across the nation.
Tom has
been selected , The Marine of the Year, Man of the Year by the
Sons of the Union, Lottery Sales Rep of the Year, received the
Medal of Honor and a certificate of Excellence from the
Daughters of the American Revolution. In 2002 Tom was named as
one of six in Illinois, as American Heroes by the Illinois
USO. Tom has done more than four thousand funerals and
memorials.
Tom has won numerous medals and awards from
Vietnam Veterans, The Merchant Marines. The U.S. Marines at
Glenview, Illinois, Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion,
The United States Army, Scouting, and the Paralyzed Veterans.
Honored in 2005 as a True American by the City of Chicago and
lead the Memorial Day Parade. Tom has worked directly with
Gen. William Westmoreland for five years on all the 50th
anniversary events of World War II. Tom organized most of the
cities events for the 50th anniversary of the Korean War, and
is now sponsored by the Korean War Veterans of Chicagoland.
Tom has designed flags, medals, and patches for units around
America and has given out more than 5,000 medals to cadets and
patriots who go that extra mile for their fellow
man.
2006 marks 59 years of music and marching for Tom,
What now Tom? With all the great experiences behind him, Tom
does not want to stop serving ins community and country. So,
Tom wants to share this with America.

Tom's Military Funeral Honors program
in the Chicago metro will continue to be offered. When a
family request's a military burial, the funeral director calls
Tom and Tom appears in the uniform of the service the Veteran
served with. Tom folds and presents the flag, fires three
volleys with an Ml rifle, presents an individualized framed
certificate with a medal attached. Tom can close the ceremony
with Amazing Grace. Donations accepted.

Tom will
continue to offer his Color Guard for parades in the
Chicagoland area. The fee for the guard to march in your
parade or open an event you might be planning starts at $600.
The unit has opened more than 16 Bulls games, done a half time
for the Packers and appeared at many Sox and public events.
The Black Sheep Squadron helps open the Chicago Memorial Day
program.
Tom has taken the "Bugles Across America"
program nationwide with the Elks Club of America. Tom was
named Man of the Year by the Elks Veterans director. Tom has
appeared at the Elks National Convention in St Louis,
Minneapolis, and Reno, scheduled to appear in 2006 in Orlando,
Florida.
The Elks would like to see a bugler at every
Lodge and someday BAA hopes to be part of the Elks Youth
movement and Veterans programs. BAA is already accepted as the
instructor section of their Scout Bugler Program. BAA supports
more than 25 troops nationwide. Tom can appear for your group
conventions and meetings and relate to you how BAA can be a
part of your future plans.
The Flag History
show... Since Tom has developed this program, he has
presented it to the City of Chicago arid many fraternal
groups, and schools. The show highlights seven of the most
popular flags of our country and can run from 30 minutes to
one hour. Tom brings all the gear, and informational
hand-outs, on the history of the flag. Tom put this show on
for the city of Chicago in 2002 and they even invited the
family of the man who first started Flag Day to attend. It
comes with music and; the colorful flags make a great backdrop
for any program. Nominal fee. Schools have used the program
and used students to be a part it and make them better
citizens. Tom has more than 23 historic flags of America and
186 flags of different countries and military should you need
this for any other event.
The Live History of the
Drum and Bugle Here Tom brings a sampling of drums from
rope tension to double head snare to share with you the
evolution of the percussion instrument. Students love to hear
the different voices and character of each drum and they get
to play them as well. The horns start from no valve and actual
horns of animals all the way to three valve bugles and
trumpets. This is a live interactive show that can run as long

Tom
can do talks on Mortgage Banking and real Marketing to any
group. Hear about Tom's collection experiences and how he
developed the " Loan to facilitate home ownership" program.
This is how he helped sell millions of foreclosed property in
California. Much of which can be applied to today's
marketplace. Hear about how he started the" The Tax Payers
Association" in Cook county and how mortgage bankers have
saved millions in no more double payments and property being
lost to tax sale.
Tom is ready to fill the teaching
shortage so he is volunteering to Substitute teach at Chicago
Public Schools in the JROTC area and at private schools in the
suburbs. Tom will offer his Lottery training experience to any
state lottery needing help developing better outside sales
reps.
